We provide comprehensive care and support to patients and their families, ensuring comfort, dignity, and quality of life through challenging times.
Our team specialises in assessing and managing pain to ensure patients are comfortable and can maintain quality of life.
We regularly review medications to ensure they are effective and appropriate for symptom control. Personalised care plans include adjustments based on the patient’s needs and condition.
Beyond pain, we address other distressing symptoms such as breathlessness, nausea, and fatigue. Our holistic approach ensures physical and emotional comfort for patients.
Each patient is assigned a dedicated nurse who will be deeply familiar with their case. A consistent point of contact can help provide reassurance and stability during a time of uncertainty.
Caregivers are a vital part of the patient’s support system. We provide practical training and ongoing guidance to help them confidently manage daily care tasks.
Our team works collaboratively with the patient’s primary care physicians, specialists, and other healthcare providers to ensure a seamless continuum of care.

Palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life of patients who are facing problems associated with advanced life-limiting illnesses. Palliative care uses a multi-disciplinary team approach to support patients and their caregivers. It prevents and relieves suffering through the early identification, correct assessment and treatment of pain and other physical, psychosocial or spiritual concerns.

When Mr Lee re-entered our Hospice at Home Programme in July 2023, he saw a familiar face. His assigned nurse was one of the attending nurses during his stem cell transplant in the hospital many years ago. “It was fate for us to meet again. She is extremely resourceful. She arranged for any medical equipment I needed and did so much research on our behalf. Being able to rely on her provided us with a sense of relief.”
Mr and Mrs Lee have both donated to other patients in Penang Hospice Society. “We’ve received so much help, and it’s important that we give back.”
“I was quite confused about my diagnosis and I was experiencing a lot of discomfort at the time,” Pn Aishah recalls. In March 2018, she underwent a nephrectomy, removing her left kidney. Unfortunately, new symptoms soon developed and she was still suffering from extreme back pain even after radiotherapy in 2019.
“I felt relieved when the nurse first came to visit. Knowing that I could discuss my condition and clarify any questions I had, put my mind at ease”. Pn Aishah shares that her assigned nurse from the Penang Hospice Society was instrumental in helping her cope with all the information she was receiving. She was provided with educational support about medications and their potential side effects, which helped prepare her for the journey ahead.”
Established in 2001, Penang Hospice Society is committed to providing compassionate palliative care to individuals with life-limiting illnesses.
