With the launching of Relay For Life - Fighting Cancer Together 2010 on
10 Jan 2010, the campaign started in preparation for the actual event
on 5-6 June 2010 at Youth Park. In particular, team recruitment and
road shows carrying key cancer messages to schools, colleges,
factories, clubs and organizations began. The first such show was at
Lam Wah Ee College of Nursing on Saturday 23 Jan 2010.  Miss Chitra Alagan, project officer of NCSM (Pg) made the presentation. Ms. Joon Joon Siew, Chair of Luminarie ceremony gave a short explanation and demonstration of the luminari.
  A large audience with an almost packed auditorium attended the briefing and many took registration forms to start forming teams. The atmosphere was brightened by the large number of RFL balloons which were given to the audience.  Dr. Oo Khaik Cheang and Banu were kept busy blowing up balloons and were eagerly helped by members of the audience. On 23 Feb, the team made a presentation at The Malaysian Teachers' College in Glugor, Penang. PCN Krishna joined the team to give a talk on how the funds raised are used in the Hospice-at-Home programme for patient care.   On 9 & 10 Mar 10, the team was invited to take part in a cancer awareness campaign at the UUM campus in Sintok, Kedah. A team of staff, nurses and volunteers travelled to the campus and took the occasion to publicise RFL2010 while the nurses provided medical screening to the students.     On Wednesday 31 Mar 2010, Mr. James Lochhead, Chairman of Organizing Committee RFL2010 gave a presentation to the Rotary Club of Penang during their monthly meeting at Trader's Hotel. George Town.    |
